Town DUP Alderman, Alan Robinson, has highlighted the need for Translink to upgrade their parking facilities at Bellarena Halt.

“I, and George Robinson MLA, recently met with residents and passengers, at their request, who are greatly concerned at the negative impact the lack of parking is having on residents in the vicinity of Bellarena Halt.

“Translink does have ownership of land that could enable the extension of car parking provision at the halt and therefore alleviate the parking problem.

“A planning application from 2014 showed the area marked as a car park area, however I am now led to believe this is being earmarked by Translink as a storage area.

“It is obvious that the original intention for the ground as a car park is eminently more productive for the area.

“The problem has arisen due to an inadequate parking provision at the beginning of the project for the new halt.

“Now, due to the increased number of trains, the requirement for park and ride has increased and created the current difficulties.”
