ROE Valley Restart a Heart is looking for community groups, businesses, and individuals to become stakeholders in encouraging as many people as possible in the Roe Valley and surrounding area to feel they have the skills to do CPR.
Could you take 30 minutes of your time to learn how to do CPR and possibly save a life?
Are you willing to join thousands of people in Northern Ireland learning CPR on Restart a Heart Day 16 October 2018?
Currently in Northern Ireland, only one in ten people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest.
If we achieved the same survival rates as countries like Norway (25 per cent), where CPR is taught in schools and defibrillators are publicly accessible, we could prevent many families from losing their loved ones too soon.
On Tuesday 16 October 2018, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service are joining forces with a number of organisations all over Northern Ireland to increase the number of people trained in life saving CPR.
This is a chance for your school or community group to learn essential skills and become the life savers of the future.
Across the United Kingdom, we're aiming to train a record-breaking 200,000 people with the skills and confidence to help save a life. Will you join our Community of Lifesavers? (Events can be held any time during 15-21 October 2018)
Roe Valley Restart a Heart is extending an invitation to everyone to get involved in this initiative and have planned the following events:
All schools have been invited to get involved from 9am to 3.30pm and encourage as many pupils as possible to complete three minutes of CPR. Schools will be supported where necessary by members of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Coastal Core Training.
Anyone in the community is invited to come along to Roe Valley Leisure Centre from 4.00pm to 9.30 pm and complete three minutes of CPR. This part of the event is supported by Causeway Coast and Glens Council.
There will be an opportunity to complete your CPR in Dungiven on Monday 15 October and Eglinton on Thursday 18 October from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Further information including how to book your training slot can be found on the Restart a Heart web site and face book pages in the coming weeks.
