A MAGILLIGAN chef is almost half the man he used to be after losing 14 stone in a determined bid to save his own life.

Adrian McDaid tipped the scales at 36 stone when he was diagnosed with leukaemia and told that unless he lost a significant amount of weight he may have less than a year to live.

Following the devastating news that he had myelodysplasia (MDS) last March, Adrian, who was working as head chef at Belfast's Europa Hotel, shed an amazing 14 stone and raised more than £27,000 for the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
