This week's Northern Constitution is fresh off the press, and filled with the latest news, entertainment and more!
Our leading story today is about a Limavady man who was found in possession of a shotgun and ammunition. A number of UDA bagdes, flags and plaques were also found in the 52-year-old's home.
Speaking following David Bond’s sentencing, Det Insp Lavery said the case “exemplifies the ramifications that exist for those who involve themselves with dangerous weapons and criminality.” He was sentenced to six years in custody with an additional year on licence, and will serve four years of his sentence before being considered eligible for parole.
In Council news, Ulster University graduate Pat Mulvenna has been announced as the new Director of Leisure and Development Services - replacing Richard Baker who left the role back in November 2023 for a chief executive post at Antrim And Newtownabbey Council. Full story on page 2, and more Council news on page 6.
Amy Woodall, a young mum from Coleraine, told her heartwarming story of her baby's unimaginable journey when he was less than six months old. Baby Angus was found to have a hole in his heart, and required open heart surgery to help fix the problem; which meant travelling down to Dublin for the operation. Read more about Angus's story on page 4.
Just a few miles from Limavady, a certain green-fingered Garvagh man has been recognised for his 25 years of fundraising work. Andrew McClarty uses his gardening expertise to provide therapy to people affected by cancer and their families, and was honoured by the Council's Move More coordinator Catherine King. Full story and pictures on page 8.
We also have almost two pages full of the latest court cases from around the borough, entertainment news, church circles and a trip down memory lane!
The Northern Constitution back page this week shows a tale of two fortunes. Limavady United are flying high, and looking for their second silverware of the season. Meanwhile, Coleraine FC are struggling in the Irish League, losing their last five league games.
