SDLP East Derry MLA Cara Hunter has welcomed confirmation from Department of Infrastructure that traffic calming measures are to be considered after raising concerns around Gaelscoil Léim An Mhadaidh in Limavady.
Ms Hunter said: "I am pleased to receive assurance from the Department for Infrastructure (DFI) that measures will be considered to ease traffic concerns around Gaelscoil Léim An Mhadaidh on Roe Mill Road in Limavady.
“The DFI has confirmed to me that the area will be assessed for the potential introduction of a part-time 20mph speed limit scheme as part of their efforts to improve safety around local schools.
"The department has acknowledged the importance of pedestrian safety, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, and has committed to assessing the area for a formal pedestrian crossing.
“However, I am concerned about the pace at which measures may be implemented. The department has said that this will only happen when resources allow and with no agreed time scale.
